“How much will it cost to ship my car”? That is a question that is asked thousands of times each day by dealers, wholesalers, collectors and people moving all around the United States. Cost is always a major consideration when moving something as important as your car, truck, or van. It may not, however, be the MOST important question that you should be asking.

Many times people deal with car transportation brokers. These “brokers” are generally companies or groups of individuals that operate no trucks of their own. These ‘vehicle transporters’ take an order to move a vehicle, hold on to a percentage of what they have charged, and then broker the vehicle out on load boards that are posted online and visible to car haulers that do, in fact, have trucks operating and moving around the country. If the price has been quoted or negotiated too low, it becomes unattractive to auto transporters and the vehicle may sit awaiting transport for a long, uncomfortable amount of time. There are many car shipping companies nowadays providing a variety of car shipping services. By far, the cheapest and most economical way of shipping a car is by using open multi car carriers.

These carriers are huge trucks that can carry up to 10 cars at one time. You may have seen some of these on the roads before. They usually have 2 levels and can carry 4 to 5 cars on each level. Because they are so long and high, they are limited to travel along major highways and roads with no obstruction of low hanging trees and bridges.

When shopping around for cheap car shipping services, there are a couple of pointers you need to bear in mind

To reunite with your beloved car, you must make sure to use the services of a fully licensed and insured car transport company that specializes in transporting cars. Doing thorough research on the various car transporter companies and car transport service before deciding on one will minimize the risk of any damage or mishap to your car:

* Just like any other industry, the auto transport industry is marked by myriad prices and multiple car transport options. Your first task involves choosing the right kind of auto transport. Depending on the value of your car, and how badly you want to lessen the risk of damage, you have the option of an enclosed, open or fabric covered auto transporter to ship your car. The covered trailer type carriers are definitely the safest and costliest options. If you have a tight budget, you can consider transporting your car on the multi-layer carriers used by car dealers. With the prosper of car shipping companies around, it has become difficult to discern which is the real deal and which is the scam. Some companies may promise lots of benefits and incredibly low rates, but upon the delivery, additional charges will be asked. As with any business transaction, car shipping must have a contract agreed upon by both parties. This protects the owner from any abuse from the company and for the company as well, to avoid being asked for services that are not inclusive in the payment.
